My name is Joe Geluso. I am a PhD candidate in Applied Linguistics & Technology at Iowa State University. I am currently working on finishing my dissertation from Japan where I teach English at the university level and conduct research in applied linguistics. My primary research interests in applied linguistics are corpus linguistics, phraseology, second language acquisition (SLA), and cognitive linguistics. I am particularly interested in weaving these areas together by investigating corpus-based approaches to second language learning grounded in cognitive-functional linguistic theory. In addition, I am interested in the history of applied linguistics as a discipline and the focus of different PhD programs in applied linguistics in North America.
